Gosh Darn M&Ms

Here’s a little something I wrote to describe the anguish I go through every time I walk past one of my coworkers’ office. Should I…no, I shouldn’t. But…they’re so good! Yummmm!

I walk past her office,
The bowl’s sitting there
At the edge of the desk
I can’t help but stare.

They keep calling out
“We are here to eat!”
And I can’t deny it
They’re too tempting a treat.

Red, yellow, blue
Orange, brown and green.
The colors of goodness
If you know what I mean.

I secretly think of
A reason to enter.
A question needs answered
After all, she’s my mentor.

My fingers are making
Their way to the bowl.
Should I give in to my craving
And just swallow it whole?

I try to be good
But it’s no use you see
Those bright little candies
Got a real hold on me.

So knowing I shouldn’t
I will choose to reach in.
Just who can refuse those
Gosh darn M&Ms!
