OK, so I know that probably wasn't the cheeriest poem you ever read but as I said, I no longer feel the way I did when it was written so I don't mind sharing it with whoever wants to read it. If it has made you feel sad though, here's a picture of me and my beautiful wee baby girl, Leah! :)

Sounds so sadly... familiar. I guess I was there, more than I like to admit... especially between 14 and 35. I could often gauge my mental health by looking at just how remote a place I wanted to move to. If it were just Alaska or the Outer Hebrides I was pretty OK... if it were Jan Mayen or Macquarie Island... I knew I was in more trouble!

I still have the urge to find a remote little part of the world myself but having a son recently has changed my outlook on life somewhat in that when I have these thoughts nowadays, I know I can't let them overpower my emotions like I used to because I need to find the strength to guide him through the same confusion that I suffered myself but hopefully my suffering through these things will mean that I will be able to ease his in future.
When I realised how the world actually works and why it works the way it does, it at least removed some of the confusion from my mind, if not the anger.

I like the poem and I can relate to what you wright, when I was younger.
I seldom feel alone anymore, but I changed a lot over the years. Maybe it's part of getting older.

I think age does help, as does coming to a clearer understanding of the way the world really works. I still have days where I want to leave it all behind but the feeling doesn't last any considerable length of time. :0

Were you a teenager when you wrote this? Sounds like some of the stuff I wrote when I was in that age range.
I was probably about sixteen. I think most of us have been there at some point! :)
