Reminiscing Black Swagger Poetry Slam
BLACK SWAGGER POETRY SLAM (BSPS) is a non-traditional poetry event. It posits that Blackness is not an occasion for crying but a strong clarion call to stand up, stand out and be proud of who we are . Be creative to get to where we are going to. BSPS asserts that we can bring about Change and it can only be sustainable if we work from within, that's why we work mostly with home talents or unsung talents:Singers, rappers, poets, etc
Last Sunday’s edition of BSPS was attended by over 120 persons from the city of Bamenda and featured great poetry, spoken word, music and our usual Creative Arts Trivia.
With @nforyembe dressed by Ngah Kreative Designs (NKD) the event started with warm words of welcome and then some great music from Leonette " Nando"

This was followed by our first poetry presentation by Sandra who inspired us with her poem “Youth”.
Sandra gently walked the audience through what it means to be youth and highlighted the impact youths can create.
Our second poem was presented by Njoke Raisa titled “Seasons of Shackles”. As usual, Raisa kept the audience in deep reflection as she oozed out very strong words with her special and unique voice.
Then we had a Afro Guitarist and Singer Mag Bila on stage. As usual Mag Bila always sings with his audience as he strings his guitar.
I tried to find a piece of Mag Bila's work online but it seems he is a difficult man to find.
Then the legendary motivational speaker, Mottani with his poem “our people”.
Mottanni is a left-brained introvert, rigid in decision making and love sleeping over ideas for them to make sense, Tanni Desmond Awa(Mottanni) has successfully moved past this so-called limiting attributes to be a successful public speaker/trainer and spoken word artist. When he gets on stage, every opens their heads and hearts.

And then we had Gambler and Smuggler with their new song "Flip Flop Boom body"
They were followed by Njoke Raisa with another poem titled Lover fever and then more music from Leonette.
The poems and music were interwooven by with our Creative Arts Trivia which usually asks questions about music, poetry, celebreties and quotes to our audience.
This edition of Black Swagger Poetry Slam also featured the award of certificates of participation and recognition to some of our artists who have put up exceptional perfomances on the stage of Black Swagger Poetry Slam.
At the end of the event, the artists gathered for lovely photos.

@thegreens is currently engaged in Waste Management (Waste Business Hub); Plastic Waste Upcycling, Tire Upcycling and Textile Waste Recycling via @ecodesigns.
Her #EndPlasticPollution Campaign has seen the organization sensitize more than 100,000 people about plastic pollution, upcycled more than 10,000 plastic bottles to create UPB Vertical Gardens, UPB Tree Nursery Pots, etc.
Her Textile Recycling Project (@ecodesigns) is currently training 13 young girls for free in textile recycling and fashion designing and has recycled more than 5000 pounds of textile waste.
Her Tire Upcycling Project is educating and engaging young people in schools and communities to #StopBurningTires and upcycle them to create Mushroom Tire Seats, Tire Flower Pots, etc
