Reflections
I look in the mirror
But I just can’t recognize
Who that person is
That’s looking through my eyes
These eyes filled with thoughts
That I just don’t how to say
I take a deep breath
What am I thinking of anyway?
Behind troubled eyes
Lies a troubled mind
All because of the answers
I just can’t find
I scowl at the man
Locked within the mirror
Because I can point out
Every imperfection there
Locked in the mirror
That’s how I feel
Because nothing in this world
Ever seems quite real
A glassy tear
Hovers on my eye
Watching the mirrored man
Begin to sigh
He wipes his eye
And walks away
Leaving me again
Within the glass today
Notes: An ancient poem covering that odd duality we feel between our true selves and the versions of ourselves we decide to expose to the world. Overtime, I hope everyone learns to express their true selves more and more, but there is definitely a pain and learning experience in getting there, especially in high school. I hope you all enjoyed.
