Universal Litany --- original poem and abstract artwork

The moon is black and don't you know

   The dogs of war they howl and moan

On the whispering winds you can hear deaths groans

   The living scream as they turn to bones

As morbid gluttons the dogs they feast

   With one eye of dread focused upon the east

They await the champion who'll challenge the beast

   In the darkness he wails and gnashes his teeth

The stars they fell one by one

   None were left all were gone

The beast shrieked and believed he'd won

   But one was left in the chamber of forever and anon

In his sleep he can not be killed

   The champion lived though no-one willed

In the beast which feared him lay his power to wield

   The "Child of the Stars" it fate unsealed

By the shriek of the beast the chamber surged and broke

   A living entity of rage and vengeance the champion awoke

He came from the east a deity shrouded in dismal smoke

   Death for the beast he yearned with a steady solid stroke

Onward he marched with his sword "The Child of the Stars" held low

   Minor minions of the beast he felled with single blows

His strength in his rage waxed as the gods can only know

   The stench of the beast he sensed and his eyes began to glow

The dogs of war launched a horror of assaults heretofore unknown

   They growled and they snapped and they ripped flesh from the bone

The champion met death and the "Child of the Stars" from his hands it'd flown

   A whirlwind of destruction it reaped and in their deaths again they moaned 

Lifeless the Child fell it's power spent straight into hell

   The beast roared a vicious yell now and forever can't break it's spell

Screeching heathenous invocations his accursed power he did swell

He reached out and grabbed the Child and heaved it into the Dark One's well

In antimony the universe could not survive

   His undoing he realized nowhere to run nowhere to hide

The universe to this day and ever will collide

   We begin again to live in life and die
