The Tao of Four

We are taught to look for emotional fulfillment through interaction with each other. We are social animals and need each other for survival, not just physical, but emotional and mental survival too. We need to feel we belong to a group and that we are a valued member of that group or we flounder.

Certainly feeling that we belong and are valued are wonderful things and they do offer a temporary feeling of security and a expanding focus for love. Alas you cannot always depend on others to validate you. Humans are fickle, changeable, and simply get busy. Sometimes there is no one to validate you. If you only know to look for soothing and self from outward sources, from other people, or even from accomplishment, you are going to suffer, a lot and often.

If you are practiced at looking on the inside for self and self-validation, through meditation, quiet prayer, and meditative actions, soothing and a feeling of a deep belonging are always available. It is not just a metaphysical process. Your body will react and heal from trauma too. Those that quiet their mind, understand its depths and the love always found brimming just below the surface of your thoughts.

The Tao is a well
Dwarfed by a raindrop
Deep enough
To fill an endless ocean

She soothes all sharpness
Eases all tightness
Mutes all din
Softens all glare
Forms and dissolves all clay

All flows from her
All flows into her
She is the beginning
She has no end

Personally, I am not one for prayer of any sort, be it quiet and meditative or forgiving, but meditation is something I have come to learn and love. My mind typically races through multiple thoughts at a time and the mass of thoughts that bombard me also confuse me and make it difficult to focus at times. Meditation helps calm those thoughts and lets me begin to focus on one at a time. Very often five minutes in the morning and five mid-afternoon are perfect!

I am an absolute meditation junkie. It is not uncommon for me to forgo TV and do an hour of meditation in the evening instead but I do love to grab snippets here and there as well. My thoughts can run away with me as well:)
