Fernweh, Day 42 of the 100 Days of Poetry @d-pend
Fernweh
you’ve never been
there exists a place
where the streets are narrow
cobbled and lined with trees
gluttonous potted plants
petals, leaves, and berries
over-flow and cascade
to the stones below
there exists a place
where cars have been banished
to the nether regions
of the upper crust
pedestrians hold sway
passing bikes pay homage
with a ring-a-ting-ting
but keep safely to the left
there is no
rush hour mournings
there exists a place
where fruit trees are abundant
nourishment and nurture is free
homes are well-kept
and there is one for everyone
this place where laws are passé
all-the-rage done away with
buried and entombed
a place where
the only rule submitted to
is the graceful sovereignty
of compassion, kindness, and care

Beautifully written I pictured it a quiet town in rural Europe and I wanted to be there

This sounds like how the UK was for a very short period of time.
Circa 1950's-1960's there was an attempt to create a humane country.
The creation of the welfare state.
Now it is being dismantled in favor of private business and profits by the short sighted.
I do hope we will swing back a little the other way. I think AI may give us the means. It is up to the poets I guess to create the motivation:)
I feel homesick too. Now, the world we have lost the place as you mean in your poetry.
