Why is there NO Rich Taxi Driver in the Philippines

Have you ever heard of anyone or knew someone who drives a taxi in the Philippines who becomes rich by just driving a cab alone?

I don't know if this is similar story or behaviour to other countries but this observation is based on my own experience and some of my friends and colleagues feeeback too.

GRAB AND UBER SERVICE
Because of the emergence of Grab and Uber in the Philippines, the market of

commuters riding a cab suddenly gets divided and there are more people now choosing this services even if they pay more.A lot of people opted to use this service because it is more convenient to ride,you can easily book a cab right in your fingertips.The drivers are presentable and the cars are surely clean with a great odor from the inside.The aircon are fully operational and is really cold.

CHOOSY DRIVERS
Only in the Philippines where the cab drivers are choosy with their customers

even before they open the door so you can sit inside they will first ask you where are you heading?If they learned that it is too far, that theres a traffic jam in the area or if it is in the opposite directions of their way, they will not let you in and will sped off right away. For some will give you an alibi that they will eat,that they are about to go home or even telling you that theres something wrong with their cars.

CONTRACT FARE
There are many times where they will ask you to pay extra on top of the flagged down rate and the actual rate,if your area is too far, they will negotiate with the price instead of using the taxi meter and most of the time, its double the price of what you are supposed to pay. They will also not give you your actual change and will always ask for a tip or no small bill to give your change.

UNTIDY CARS
Often the cars smells so bad especially from the inside, you will smell a dried carpet or a rubber or even body odor, the drivers doesnt look presentable or neat, most of the time they are untidy. The airconditioner is mostly set to thermostat level 1 which makes it warmer in a sunny day.

PERCEPTION
Because of this behaviours mentioned above, it created a perception or assumption to majority of commuters that riding a cab will often brings you worst experience in a transit. That rather than riding a cab, you will choose to ride Uber or Grab because it gives you great service and even offers better security for the commuters.

WHAT DO DRIVERS DONT REALIZE?
What do these drivers dont understand is that, Great Customer Experience is one key factor that will help them bring more customers or commuters riding a cab, this will then help them earn more money. That changing the bad impressions to them will change the way commuters think about them.

I never known any cab drivers becomes rich by just driving alone,maybe because they just thinking about money and forgets about the quality of their service which will actually help them improve their reputation and trust of the commuters which will benefit them more because people will choose to ride a cab instead of Uber and Grab.

The more customer riding a cab means more earnings or revenue to the drivers.
