Africa, I am
AFRICAN I AM.
slavery did not enslave,
serfdom did not serve me interests,
apartheid kept me apart, but not apart,
theft of my land did not move my world,
rape of my women did not bastardize me,
being hunted, flogged, and hanged did not exterminate me,
being farmed like livestock propagated me,
zoo exhibition didn't make me subhuman,
migrant labour did not enstranged me,
rape and pillage of my oceans, minerals, flora and fauna has not left me poor, and
Oh! discovering my rivers, mountains, plains and my being does not mean I never existed,
I am
exterminated but not extinct,
exorcised but free spirited,
despised but still needed,
hated but still loving,
silenced but still louder,
conquered but not defeated,
misunderstood but understanding,
darkened but illuminating,
colonised but free as a bird in full flight,
fallen but standing straight and strong,
still but moving like a leopard at full speed,
wingless but flying, no soaring, like an eagle,
asleep but wide awake,
stolen but I am found in all continents ...
I must be African,
nothing you have done to me, I have not done to you,
I am Africa,
nothing taken, borrowed or pinched I will not regain,
I am African,
I am resilient,
I am right, I am here,
I am right here,
Africa I am, I am Africa
I will remain and proud to be a Nigerian
Africa

This is beautiful. Love the use of juxtaposition to communicate your theme.
It is very powerful how the negatives are negated and the harms are harmonized!

The third picture by David Bainbridge speaks volumes Sir. I think It portrays the era of Colonialism and slave trade in Africa where Most of these countries needed Manpower for their plantation in the new world (America)... I could be wrong though, any takes?
True @pangoli. I believe you have read widely to mention DAVID BAINBRIDGE
