This is my December song
Nothing is more frustrating than knowing the darkness is quicksand.
I do everything I can to avoid it but it's always there.
And no matter how hard I try to stay on the lit path
I fall in.
The more I struggle, the faster the dark place swallows me whole.
The world stops but time keeps moving forward.
Finally, when I begin to emerge I have to wonder where the hell I've been and what was I doing with myself?
I feel so weak which is why...
This is my December song.
It repeats every year and it's only gotten worse since my father died.
So, I dedicate this poem to him.
I kind of imagine it to be song lyrics but a melody escapes me so if anyone wants to collaborate just let me know.

Whatever troubles you, my friend, only you can overcome it. No amount of words from anyone else will do the job. You need to find the strength that you know is inside you and remember who you are. Only by suffering the sadness of life can we appreciate it's beauty. I really hope you find your true self again soon Meredith and that this coming New Year can be the start of a brighter future for us all. We need you back when you are able. You are in my thoughts, my friend. x
there are links like those of parents and children that even death can not separate them, only those who have gone through this understand, that unlike all the things that when time passes is forgotten, these links and memories are stronger , every time they hurt and remember more.
Sad and beautiful poetry at the same time, you are admirable as you write.

nice poetry @merej99 only those people understand you pain & grief who lost their loved ones. Death is the ultimate reality of this world. Every thing in this world is mortal. All we can do now is just associate our self with good deeds and pray for our loves one. wishing you a peaceful and healthy year.

Death is a given and I become more aware of my own mortality with every passing year. As I often tell my kids: live with no regrets, don't die doing something stupid, and try your best in all that you do because it's the stories from the people who knew us which make us live on.
