Hi, folks.
I’m back on Day 50 for my 45th Entry to the Steemit School Poetry 100-Day Challenge by @d-pend.

Cup of Tea
Night has fallen
along with us
and the snow;
the TV is on,
and so is a cricket.
Your robust shape
sinking in the bed
reminds me of
warmer days.
The heavy sound
of your breathing.
Occasional snoring.
Beating chest,
cold feet,
a whisper.
Cup of tea?
Forgive me,
for I forget
that you're gone.
It's just too soon
to let you go.

It's incredible how on the first read through my eyes just passed over these lines, but reading the whole thing a second time, they then took on intense new meanings. The best poetry always rewards repeated readings! An emotionally charged and well proportioned piece, Marlyn :)
