3 poems inspired by emperors - A freewrite prompt
Hello everyone! This is my participation in today's freewrite. The prompt was "emperor".
Poem 1
who is the weight behind the crown?
sometimes the shadow of the emperor
gets the most accomplished
Poem 2
I sat in the highest throne
emperor of all that was
tamed under the sun
only to find that you, my love
thrived only in
the wildest of forests
Poem 3
would you compare
my empire to yours
is the worthiness
of each ruler found
in the measure of gold
or the measure of dreams

Can't wait to see everyone's work! 💕 Ps the image included is of Emperor Yongzheng. I got to watch a fictionalized version of this guy recently when I watched "The Legend of Zhen Huan" which was an amazing TV series. I think my poems were definitely influenced by reflecting on all the bad decisions this guy made in the show. 😂 The image is in the public domain.

You can actually find it on Youtube! Some episodes you have to be patient with the subtitles or occasional lack of them because the quality varies but most of the 76 episodes are good. :)
