Afterlife Journey

in #poetry7 years ago

It seems that Christianity and Islam are not that different after all. For this poem, I looked up facts. I then found a way to put those facts into rhyming words.

Afterlife Journey

What happens to us when we die
Paradise in Heaven or to Hell to fry
Will our previous life warrant a new soul
Or will we just die and lay in a hole

Buddhists say there are beginnings but no end
Rebirth depends on how your life had been
Your spirit will seek a new life and body
Six realms determine, hope you weren’t too naughty
If you were good your status will be up
If you were bad, maybe a rat, in a dump

Hindus believe your soul will have rebirth
First it leaves through your head and off this Earth
It re-coops for awhile then will continue
A fresh soul ready for somebody new
All the impurities no longer can we see
With a new body the soul continues its journey

Islam and Christians both seem the same
They have similar beliefs, just use different names
They both have a purgatory of sorts when you die
Where judgment is given and you can not lie
In Islam you are judged laying in your grave
Christians in Heaven are judged on how they behaved

Atheists believe that when you’re dead, you’re dead
To believe otherwise, you’re crazy in the head
According to them you get one chance to live
You can choose to take or you can choose to give
There is no second or third time around
There is no Heaven up and no Hell is down

For me it doesn’t matter what they all say
I just try to be good, it seems the best way
I always try to follow the Golden Rule too
Do unto others as you’d want them to do unto you

I think that you will never see another Minnow like me that wants so bad to be a Whale. Please help by Upvoting, Commenting and Resteeming ALL posts and comments by @johnwjr7

Nice poem! There seems to be a lot of basic knowledge of each religion in each stanza, well done! So which one would you classify yourself as? Also, good luck on your journey towards becoming a whale! I have been going all out for the past two months on this platform and it definitely pays off! Just continue to post daily and engage with a lot of people each day. Well done once again, and thank you for sharing!

PS: If you are interested and have some spare time, I have some poetry on my blog too. :)

That was the goal of the poem to have just a little bit of knowledge for each religion. I did a lot of research on it before attempting the poem. It actually came out better than I was hoping.
As for becoming a Whale, well at this time it seems that it will never happen. I see all these people getting 100's of dollars on their posts and the biggest one I've ever gotten was for less than $6. I'm missing something I think. I'll keep posting and curating. I hope that something will click somewhere and somehow.
I've been to your site and read your poetry. It's very nice. I hope I can be so good someday.

The key to getting more recognition and bigger rewards is definitely engagement and patience. It took me 20 days to earn about $10 when I first started off here, but then one of my posts got added to the Curie guild on Streemian.com, and my post earned me $128 overnight! Then gradually, after spending 3-4 hours on here daily, I started earning more and more, and now, although my recent author rewards have not been the best, I am still continuing to engage and grow my blog, and I found getting more people to come visit your page and follow you to be the best way! I will check your page out now!

I also have other poems on my page that I wish you would look at and give me your opinion.

By far one of your best poems yet John. And I have to agree... live by the Golden Rule is the best way. And when you're dead, that's it... no do overs!
