Familiar Haunts
I often see her walking
Under witching trees
She won’t stop and talk to me.
A tracery of branches
Darkens the spring
And blackens buildings
But still she won’t stop and talk to me.
Ghosts are indifferent to the cold
Disdain new things
And prefer the old
She prefers weathered facades
While the wind rattles windows
Along the quad
I understand her point of view
Sympathize and despise
All spiritist laws—
They only apply
To hauntings within and
Not to public streets
So she rightfully ignores
These lesser gods
Clad in tattered sheets…
Still she won’t stop and talk to me
Even when I see her on the street.
Hay unas almas que vagan por allí y lo que buscan son otras almas, @johnjddes. Lo particular que yo veo en este excelente poema, no es el fantasma vagar, sino la capacidad que tiene el otro de verle. Qué hay en él, en su mirada, en su cuerpo, que tiene el poder de mirar estos seres? no es casual que la voz lírica nos repita: no se detiene a hablar conmigo. Algunas personas traen oscuridad cuando pasan, son sombras que caminan sin rumbo y sin mirada. Saludos y es grato que sigas con tus poemas nocturnos.
