A kernel, robust and primed
Sprouts with vigorous life
Watered by felicity
Endures the furious weather

Pampered by the farmer
It glows green and bright
Each day, taller and taller
Each day, a leaf or two

On its shoulders, insects rest
Spiders weave their webs
Caterpillars, painful with their bites
Driven out by toxic rage

A season has come and gone
Yellow en masse produce
Golden and radiant like the sun
Crisp, sweet, precious jewels

Her treasures, willingly shared
The farmer gladly obliged
He thanks her for the service
And pledged to grow her child
