Decorum and Dreams (An Original Poem)
Decorum and dreams
dance among the
painted faces of the night
The fast and the new
have washed over me
in wonderful ways
only to leave me yearning
to know the true wisdom
of easy and slow
I have journeyed long through
the fallacies and naivety,
still believing, when it seemed
all hope was lost
Enduring the storm until
the truth became so salient
that it cleansed my soul like fire
The world looks a bit different
on this side of life,
priorities have shifted, idealism's sifted
until there’s not as much black and white
but many more shades of gray
Urgency, there is no more
for now I see how deft
of a thief time really is,
it whisks these words away
before they are even frozen in form
Maybe these moments of our lives
on this holographic stage
were given to us so we could
learn to masterfully play ourselves?
As we all coexist in this constant flux,
breathe in deeply of each moment,
believe in wholly of this truth…
never give up for in each second you are forgiven,
in each moment you are reborn.

Doesn't rhyme well but meaning is deep!

Wow, this could have been pulled from my spirit as of late and placed on the page. I truly wonder if there is a mass awakening to ideas like these. It's so difficult to capture this much in a poem, beautiful work!
And I'm not sure of the coincidence here, or the synchronicity perhaps, but the title of the first book of my series is Reborn! The second is Renewal. There's a theme there :) What a great introduction to your writing!!
Thank you so much, @dreemit! I do believe there is a mass awakening going on, I only hope it’s enough to divert the world from its collision course. That’s a cool bit of synchronicity! I can’t wait to read your work. It sounds like what we write about is very similar but my trilogy of novels in the Alarm Clock Dawn series is more in the Sci-Fi/Suspense genre. Book 2 of my trilogy, Truth Is Stranger, will be done soon! Dream No More will be the third.
I agree, though my concern about the collision has faded recently, I keep having this thought that "we're writing our own scripts now". :) I love sci-fi/suspense, I look forward to reading it! I have to make a point of thanking donkeypong for sending me your way!!
The final stanza reminds me some of the old Moody Blues-
Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.
