SteemitPoetryContest #16 | Imagine Something Solid
Imagine Something Solid
In common talk the imagination is a vague and shifting scene.
Who can say how figments twist, to be or else have been?
But we imagine with the selfsame brain we use for real things:
It's not mass or weight or electric charge that gives a truthful ring.
How many legs does a unicorn have?
You can count with your mind's eye.
Say “I made it up, mine have seven!”
But you'd know that it's a lie.
This is a feature, not a bug, of our wondrous brain machines:
They fill the gaps when there's a lapse of differences foreseen.
What use have unicorns for legs? “To walk” the answer springs.
And pegasi? Of course they fly, upon their birdlike wings.
The above is my entry for the Steemit Poetry Contest #16 on the theme of “Imagination”. (Unicorn image from pixabay).
