REPLACEMENT
Honesty
Is a curious thing
It takes from you the outcome you intended to manufacture
The only thing that seemed to get you through
The child's dream of freedom
Cinderella's happily ever after.
It takes from you the one thing you needed to survive
Alone in the desert
For days without water.
It takes that from you
And replaces it
With something else
Something you secretly wanted
But would never have dared to expect
Ripping away your petty illusions and forcing what you truly need upon you, whether wanted or not...Yup! That's honesty for yah!

thanks @titus-andronicus! There were strange juxtapositions in this poem that surprised me too. I have kind of an idea of where it's headed when I start, but I never really know where it's gonna end up :D

STOPLove the message, false hope leads us astray way too often. This reminded me of one of my older pieces The Death of Hope.
Call me crazy, but despite all this I still think that a world of complete honesty would be sad and dull.
I think so too... but in a situation where illusion has become a block to growth, honesty can be a breath of fresh air ;)
