I have wished a bird would fly away
And not sing by my house all day;🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

Have clapped my hands at him from the door
When it seemed as if i could bear no more

The fault must partly have been in me.
The bird was not to blame for his key.

And of course there must be something wrong
In wanting to silence any song.

The structure of the poem is noteworthy. It is written in couplets. The 1st stanza represents a complete statement of the overpowering effect of the poem. The next three stanzas, which constitute the descriptive part of the poem, are cleverly linked and enact the idea of the stealthy amd relentless progress of the poem. The manner in which stanzas two, three and four are syntactically linked together suggests and enact the small nature and cannot identify the progress of the poem.

This is a reflective poem based on the proverbial "bird''. It is a moral poem which deals with dilemma which the poet faces, the spiritual batrles and agonies which the poet suffers because he cannot withstands or bear anymore.

From the literally viewpoint, there seemed to be a very good relationship between the poet and the bird but somewhere along the line, this relationship was marred and the poet has now realized his mistakes and now wants the bird back. The final stanza of the poem touches on why the bird's song superceds all other songs and therefore wants every man to listen to him.
Such a wonderful poem for us all..
