Poetic-surge Poetry Contest#1 (Filling The Empty)
A hand reaches out - it is empty, save love
It offers to lift you, help you rise above
The place you have fallen, lonely despair
You see their hand, but you don't see them care.
The best things in life are filled up with nothing
When we're empty inside, we think others are bluffing.
We miss the kind gestures, we can't see hidden tears
Our own empty hearts fill our mind with our fears.
The first ray of love-light must come from within
Reach out empty handed, let the healing begin
Let your love soar on broken wings if it must
Love will fly back to you, just give love, and trust.

This is a BRAND NEW poetry contest, so if you are a poet JUMP IN and support the folks hosting this!
This photo was taken on Tobacco Caye in Belize. The man would take the kitchen scraps to the dock after every meal and throw them into the air for the frigate birds. He was not just taking out the trash, he was feeding his friends, he was sharing the love in his heart. My moral to this story? Sometimes it may look like people are offering you garbage, but it is the best expression of love they are capable of offering.
Oh yes! To reaching out empty handed and igniting healing...This is beautiful, love throws gasoline to the flames of our strength
Thank you! Your reply is quite poetic itself!
Really nice work here,,, seems like an empty show of love are really the best kind of love we get,,,i really love your work,,,it doesnt just pass a story,,i passes a moral to....hope you stay around...
I love poetry, it is one of the "hidden gems" of steemit for me. I followed a political analyst to the site, so I sort of expected a politics site. I never expected to find this awesome creative outlet - THANK YOU!
Quite inspirational, a lovely piece and so very true about life. Good luck with the competition.

I love this line. "Love will fly back to you, just give love, and trust" So nice to see a poem on this topic that ends on a positive note. 💙
Thank you, my sweet husband has given me a life of living that lesson :)
