For a long time now, we poets have languished at the bottom of the steemit food(block)chain. We write out our hearts and string them into words intricately woven with depth of meaning but in the end we earn little of nothing for it. It's saddening. It's discouraging. It dampens spirits to put your heart into something and get little or no appreciation. It kills the dreams of many talented poets out there. But i haven't thought about quiting for one day. I have been thinking and brainstorming of innovative ways to improve the value of under-valued poems on steemit.

For a long time now, I've been thinking of ways to help steemit poets grow. To help poets earn and know they're appreciated. After a lot of thinking and talking with my good friend, @tony-duke, we finally found a way to change things around here. Its been really difficult planning things out. It is going to be an evolutionary process and we are going to take everything step by step. We have big plans and believe me, it will accomodate not only the already talented poets, but also the untalented who have the slightest interest in poetry.

Writing a simple poem does not require so much professionalism. Poetry has no specific words or rules of patterns for you to follow. The only existing pattern of poetry is the heart. Poetry reflects our inner world in an external world view. Poetry tells the story of our souls. There is no criteria for you to join us, come let us do this together.

The Poetic-surge

The poetrysurge is an idea that @tony-duke and I came up with as a solution to the problem of steemit poets like ourselves. It is going to be community of steemit poets. It's all about keeping poetic dreams alive and preventing poets from languishing in the abyss of low posts payout. We'll give a voice to poets here on the platform. We'll come together to help ourselves. Soon, we'll be creating a discord channel and WhatsApp group for the community. The links to these groups would be shared subsequently. This is gonna be a real deal, a hyper-surge, we are going to take poetry to a whole new level on and off steemit. We came up with the name poetic-surge because we are giving poetry a surge of current. We expect a large turn up of poets from different communities on the steemit blockchain, so we can with unity and oneness surge poetry to the top, the sky-high level for everybody to see us, then we can look at ourselves and be proud of what we achieved.

The Poetic-surge Poetry Contest

The poetry contest will be organised by @tony-duke. A poem with a specific title or theme would be dropped and each participant would write a poem also focusing also on the theme of the dropped poem. The best three will be selected and will be rewarded according to the reward pool for that edition as we plan to keep growing the reward pool. Then the best of the three selected poems would be use for the next week contest which would be a poetry appreciation contest.

Poetry Appreciation Contest

The poetry appreciation contest will be run by me, @ajremy, the best poem from the poetic-surge poetry contest would be the poem to be appreciated by each of the, them participants. Poetic-surge Curation

From time to time, we will be involved in curating good poetry in order to help steemit poets grow. We'll explore the poetry tag in search of good poems which we will upvote as well as drop comments to encouraged such poets not to give up. As the community grows, we may enroll the help curators to help out with picking out poems but for now, @tony-duke and I would be doing it. In the future, as we grow, we may have a curation trail to further enhance our efficiency but that's just the least of our long term plans

Poetry Picks

Each week, five outstanding poems will be selected randomly across steemit. Every poem is eligible and selected poems would be shortlisted for a shortlist for special curation and the poets who wrote them also would receive a reward of sbd or steem for their work.

Making Our Dream a Reality

Though we want to kick off as soon as possible and start making a change,we are a bit limited in what we can do.

Neither @tony-duke nor I is a whale and we're limited in funds and steempower. We need funds of sbd and (or) steem for the contest, as well as steempower for curation. Right now,our combined upvotes would give a payout of about 0.20 dollars. Thus, anyone interested in sponsoring our project can give an sp delegation to either or both of us.
