Travails of a Lonely Soul (Self Poetry Appreciation)

Broken and lonely
I'm all on my own
Crying and cranky
I swear I could speak to a stone
Yet I'm never alone
Because loneliness never leaves me
Dry as a bone
I lay to sleep yet another night, lonely.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
This poem is a lyrical poem made up of two quatrains (two stanzas of four lines) using the rhyme scheme. The subject matter or central theme of the poem is loneliness. I'm not necessarily a lonely person so I endeavour to write this poem looking at things from the perspective of someone who is lonely.
The first line says,
"Boken and Lonely".
The first line of any piece of poetry is most times more or less like an introduction to the poem. This line is a pointer to the state of the speaker. He is both broken and lonely. However we do not know why.
The next line sheds light in the reason for the speakers statement of his loneliness.
I'm all on my own
So the speaker is broken and lonely because he is all on his own. The absence of company is usually called loneliness but the speaker is not only made lonely by the absence of company but is also broken as a result.
In the third line, the speaker continues to speak concerning his plight and how he feels. He says he is cranky and crying. As a result of loneliness and being broken, the speaker has become cranky and begins crying. In the next line we see just how bad this loneliness is.
I could speak to a stone
This is just a pointer to the extent to which the speaker is seeking company.
In the second stanza, however, the poet contradicts his earlier statements.
Yet I'm never alone
After all his lamentation concerning his boredom, it seems really absurd that the poet would say he is never alone, yet a deeper look into the next line makes us understand the poets self-contradiction.
The poet is actually saying he is never alone because loneliness never leaves him. This means that the poet has come to see loneliness as company. This is a pointer to the degree of his loneliness
The speaker then concludes the poem with words of hopelessness
dry as a bone
I lay to sleep yet another night, lonely
This shows us that the speaker is already used to being alone and perhaps has surrendered to his fate as he chooses to go to bed instead of continually brooding about his loneliness

Your poetry appreciation is smashing. I enjoy every bit of it. Loneliness is a psychological concept that applies to everyone in one way or the other. How we react to it will determine the perpetuity or momentarility. It could be ravaging or soothing. I love loneliness to achieve some things. So loneliness could be a boon or bugbear.
Nice piece explication nonetheless
Thanks. Very true, life is all about perception and perspective
Well done Bro.
Thanks
