Winter Thoughts

The sun wanes in the sky
The season passes quietly into the long sleep of Winter
Equinox!
Now the fire's glow flickers off the tinsel on the tree
Mockery of the icicles clinging to their roosts
Celebrate!
The bear sleeps; the hounds, subdued
Thoughts of butterflies stir dreams
Peace!
The depth of the Cold; the beginning of new Warmth
Hope!
