Job Hunting

Fran feels suspicious she's been passed by
finds few fair jobs and has realised
too many windows have closed behind.

Then there's the kids that limit her hours
and what she will give, and how she is now
seen as a mother.

She knows her CV's not up to scratch
her background is lacking the final touch
of knowing someone in the job.

Though as of yet, Fran can't get
to the interview stage, she's questioned herself
and she's unconcerned about her age,

or the way she's spent her time
absorbed in books and full
of unfashionable thoughts,

like to have no job is not a crime
to have no money is not a failing
might be there's something else that's worth attaining.
