Great podcast. I grew up with no air conditioning too.
I do agree when you drink a cool beverage, your body turns on it's furnace to heat it up to 98.6 degrees. So you don't win in the long run.
Steem is not a different spelling for steam. The creator of steem/steemit @dantheman mention it coming form 'self esteem'. But I never really dug into the meaning.

I've grown up without air conditioning, the only times I've had it was in the east coast. Here in So Cal we have the ocean breezes but it still gets hot enough where these tips will be put to good use!
I grew up with no air conditioning. Yes on a dairy farm it was hot but we seemed to get everything done no matter how hot it was. upvoted and resteemed.
LOL stay in the shade. Seems obvious but I can see how the elderly could get confused and overheated. As for the best locations to homestead I believe you are correct. The Ozarks seem to be the best and in fact it seems a lot of people say they feel they are being called to the Ozarks for what is coming in the near future. If I could get my wife onboard to do it we would move. Family here in Virginia and she doesn't want to separate. Thanks for the podcast!

Yeah well mock A/C all you want but when your a woman in menopause you sure HAVE to have A/C or DIE!!! If not, those around me during a hot flash may just die ;) LOL. Sure hope Jamie doesn't suffer from them when her time comes. P.S. I'm in Tucson AZ and its going to be 118 this week. Ugh. Thinking about moving to AR.
