Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
1/2 frozen banana
1 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
1/2 cup spinach
2 teaspoon flaxseed
2 teaspoon hemp oil
1 teaspoon chia seeds
3/4 cup almond milk

Directions:
Simply add all ingredients to a blender and blend! You may have to stop, scrape, and re-blend- it may be tedious but it will give you the lush, thick texture!

PS: I topped this one with my choco-pb granola, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, and blueberries!

Ok, Lets look at these ingredients.

Banana– not necessarily a ‘skin superfood’ but is high in vitamin A, which is found in the form of Retinoic Acid inside the cells. Retinoic acid has been shown to slow and even reverse signs of aging! Furthermore, Retinoids are known as ‘skin normalizers’ because they regulate cellular behavior!

Mixed Dark Berries– oh, antioxidants! Berries are incredibly high in antioxidants, which help neutralize damaging free radicals in the body. Free radicals can cause cell damage which in turn can result in faster aging. Berries help stop this process! Plus, their nutrients promote production of collagen in the body, which keeps skin strong, elastic, and smooth.

Spinach- besides being amazing for a plethora of other things, spinach is also an incredible skin superfood. It contains around 80% water, which hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. The folates in spinach can help reduce acne and hydrate dry skin. Plus, it has an incredible amount of vit.A, which we know is amazing for skin.

Flaxseed– Flaxseeds, again, are good for so many things, but for skin and hair, they are rich in Omega 3’s, which fights inflammation of the skin, and lignins, which are essential for healthy cell growth. In light of this, flaxseeds can help prevent hair breakage and damage and build stronger, shinier hair!

Hemp oil- Hemp oil, again, is full of essential omega 3 fatty acids, which are necessary for healthy cell production. It also is extremely anti-inflammatory, which may soothe skin, and is a fantastic moisturizer!

Chia seeds– Chia seeds help maintain collagen in the skin, full of fiber, which helps stabilize hormones and sugar levels, and are high in magnesium, which also stabilize hormones, healing uneven skin tones or preventing breakouts. There are so many other amazing properties of chia seeds but these are just a few

Almond milk- almonds are filled with the same amazing skin supplements- antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, vitamin E, and magnesium. Plus, it is known that dairy is not the greatest for your skin. It tends to clog pores and also causes overproduction of sebum, our skin’s natural oil. Switching to a non-dairy milk is always a better option!

OK, that was all the ingredients! I hope you try this smoothie and enjoy it as much as I do. Let me know if you like it!
