STILL MAKING DECISIONS
At every point in our lives, we are making decisions. Either be it the little things that we take for granted like getting out of bed or taking a shower; or the seemingly bigger things like choosing a life partner or allocating your scarce resources, making decisions is a primary requirement for everyone.
Making the right decision.
Decision paralysis. This is a situation where someone doesn't make a decision--which is a decision in itself--because they cannot choose from the options available to them. This is due to the fact that most people are so obsessed with making the right decision or too afraid to make the wrong one. Listening to Garyvee these past few days has added some more insight into some of the concepts I believe in, one of which is the fact that there are no right or wrong answers/decisions.
In 2014 my father made some very interesting investment decisions. He bought a house in Venezuela, opened a small boutique and a restaurant. He also invested in a cab business and a bunch of other things. In my mind, we were set for life. A year later everything crumbled. The economic situation in Venezuela was so bad he lost everything. Thinking about now, I sometimes wonder what would have happened if he made all those investments here in Nigeria. They were not bad investment decisions, neither were they bad. The thing is life happened and life happens so often it scares me but at the same time, it gives me this consciousness that nothing is guaranteed, and I think that's the only thing life guarantees--uncertainty. You might invest in a great business idea and the next minute it is gone; you might decide to spend the rest of your life with someone and you lose them the next month. It's just life. You might take this piece of information and use it in whatever way you think. It can either make you feel helpless or push you to take the risk. I dont like the feeling of helplessness. I always like to believe i have a fighting chance even if the odds are against. That for me is one of the few things that makes me want to get up every morning and try.
One of my biggest challenge as an adult is trying to change the way I see the world and people in a way that makes me less judgemental and more empathetic. That comes with seeing the world in a spectrum of light rather than black and white. In other words, having a broader view of life rather than holding on to a preconceived notion of what it should be is the best way to go. That's how I look at decision making. I don't see good or bad decisions.
You really can't tell the end from the beginning (most times). There are an infinite number of things that happen or can happen in between that can affect the outcome. And probably the best approach is taking a step at a time. This is one of the reasons I like making long and short term plans that don't necessarily correlate. This way I tend not to lose out of any opportunity (most times). For example, I haven't powered down in a month which is something I have never done before now. This is in line with my long term goal which is to stake but I still have a short term plan of buying a laptop in the coming month with my steem as collateral (short term plan). The payback period will allow me to pump in fiat into the system while my capital (stake) stays intact. Good for me, better for steem, and best for my credit facilitator.
For the past month, I have been making decisions. I have put in my time and money in a lot of things, which kind of scares me and I'm still going deep--that's the point. I'm not trying to live life on the sidelines but at the same time, I dont want to be reckless because I am responsible for a lot of things and people. Only time will tell where this road leads or ends. Until then I will live my life one step at a time.

Whatever you decide, just go with and never hesitate as at the very least you will learn from the experience itself. I am working with a couple of things myself as the downtime from Steem has allowed me to catch up on some items that continue to challenge my decision process as well!
True that. I'm on that path currently.
