#piratesunday The Foundry Part 1 by Slacker Stacker (@dixiesilverminer entry)
Good Day all you daring swashbucklers, awesome buccaneers, and plundering pirates!! Welcome back to the Silver Wing and that fantastic pirate holiday of #piratesunday. This can mean only one thing it is time to join Captain K and the brave crew of the Dragon Fire seeking the Silver Skull of Destiny!!! This tale is a very special and amazing one as it comes from the one, the only, the Dragon Master himself: Slak-tor!!! Thats right my mateys Slak-tor took some time from his adventures to join us here on the deck of the Silver Wing and he will be telling a tale so full of adventure and magic that you would not believe it unless you were there!! I should know Slak-tor and myself were! Without further ado I turn the floor over to Slak-tor and The Foundry!

Captain K stood on the bridge consulting a map of The Lost Sea comprised from the logs of other captains who were lucky enough to return from their voyages.
His eyes settled on the small image of an island seemingly alone in the center of what was known of the lost sea.

“Goldie, turn thirty degrees starboard and then steady as she goes.” He ordered his expert navigator.
“Thirty degrees starboard, Aye sir!”
Captain K could feel the slight list of the ship as she made her turn.
“Captain?” A man voice asked behind him.
“Yes Khamen?” He asked turning to meet the man’s eyes. “You have a question?”
“Yes, Captain. What is this foundry we sail to?”
Captain K sighed recalling the stories he had heard about the place.
“The home of The Metals Guild…” He replied.
“Metals Guild?” Khamen asked curiously.
“Yes, an organization made of the finest metal smiths in the world. All the greats are either there, or learned their craft there. The guild is run by one man only known a “Pit.” He explained.
However, Lord and Lady Vulcan rule the island and take on specially selected apprentices. When done, those apprentices become legendary metal smiths.” He explained.
“Like who?” Khamen asked in an impressed tone.
“Master ship builder, Vessel for one. It is rumored he is developing iron warships.” He said raising a finger. “Skully Beyeridge for another!” He held up a second finger. “Master silver and gold smith. If you can think it, he can make it.” He began to recite a list, extending a finger with each name. “Then there is Clint of Greyrock Castle, Silver Back Stackten, Burnie, Miner… Well, you get the idea.” He chuckled.
“I certainly do!”
(The Dragon Fire)
Captain K suddenly noticed Slak Tor standing alone on the bow staring across the waters ahead. His gut told him something was wrong. Slak Tor was a friendly and social person and had enjoyed the crew’s company during his stay aboard The Dragon Fire, but now he stood alone.
“Excuse me Khamen…” He absently reach out to clap Khamen on the shoulder before moving to the lone figure.
Slak Tor wore a dark expression as he watched the churning waters. His long dark hair blew in the wind and he ignored the spray wetting his face as the bow of the ship bobbed up and down cutting through the waves.
Having a dragon as an escort was a huge advantage, but it came at a dangerous price. Winged dragons that lived on land could traverse great distances in a single flight, but to spend weeks protecting a slow moving ship had taxed The Dragon Fire’s foodstuffs. A creature of that size could not survive on human rations, although one could go days without eating, but the voyage was taking its toll and Tarakona was hungry!
(Tarakona thanks to @slacker-stacker)
“Are you ok, my friend?” A voice said in concern.
Slak Tor, pulled from his thoughts, blinked and looked to the man who stood beside him.
“I am fine Captain, but I am worried…” His voice was heavy and his expression serious.
“Why?” K laughed, looking at the blue skies about them. “This trip has been great! No bad storms, no attacks and the weather is better than can be asked for! What troubles you?”
“I am worried about Tarakona.” Slak Tor replied in an urgent tone.
K’s expression became confused. “Why? He seems fine to me! He’s up there now, flying reconnaissance for us.” He asked, but the dragon master’s expression did not change. “Ok, my friend… What’s wrong?” He asked, now feeling a little nervous about the finding out the answer to his question.
Slak Tor sighed and looked back towards the main deck to the ship.
“Captain, what is the status of our food reserves?” He asked in low tone, as if to guard against any who may be listening.
K thought for a moment. “Lower than normal, but we still have enough food and drink to sustain the crew for some time. Why?” Then Slak Tor’s meaning stuck him. “Oh!” He said in understanding. “Are you afraid he will eat you?” He asked in disbelief.
Slak Tor shook his head. “He would never eat me… I raised him from the day he hatched. To him, I am his father.” He said with some pride.
“So what are you saying? He would eat one the crew?” K asked incuriously.
The dragon master blanched at the thought, but his expression became grim. “Captain, there is a slim chance he would do something like that. Dragons are very intelligent creatures, but they do have survival instincts.” He shook at the thought. “ If I were you, I would keep Sir Bentley below decks until we find land. Being a hare, he most resembles acceptable game.” He warned.
(Sir Bentley)
“I will take this under advisement!” K said in mild shock. “Can’t you control him?”
“I can for now… But he will grow more irritable and hungry day by day.”
“Land Ho!” The lookout in the crow’s nest shouted. “Island, just of to our port!” He called.
“Oh thank God!” Slak Tor breathed in relief to no one. Captain K was already on the move towards the bridge.
“Change coarse for the island, best speed Goldie!” He shouted as he ran across the deck. “And someone make sure Sir Bentley is escorted to his quarters below decks!” He added.
A large island appeared on the horizon almost completely shrouded in mist. Tall cliffs and heavily wooded jungle areas could but be seen though the dense fog surrounding its mass. The only distinguishing feature about the island that could be seen was a tall mountain, its peak reaching high enough to be covered in patches of snow.
