Hand Speed Analysis, Using Audio Signal Recording

in #physics2 years ago (edited)

Pen or keyboard battles first, I have a tattoo that is an agreement with myself, to resolve conflict the non-physical way (a dragon).

Article containing video record analysed:
Audible Martial Art - Testing New Shoes at Thirty-Five (2016)

I thought about this once or twice, now I can record the output of the video to measure the time between strikes.

Hey this is neat, I can see the audio and timing of three kicks clearly ..5/ 5. There are several phases, the pre-loading coil, the release take-off, the rotation and "woosh-shoe" part, then the landing.

Hand speed, faster than one tenth of a second, closer to half that ..or five hundredths of a second.

Jab, cross, hook and uppercut ..one third of a second.

Neat to know exactly, like having a baseball pitch radar.

The jab and cross which led the combination were slightly faster ..both in one tenth of a second.

What is the hand speed record? ..there must be such a thing.

Not world records but a study that should provide the reasonable average...

For either the jab or cross, my strikes were timed at approximately 50 ms intervals. The rate is 20 punch/s.

To be honest, the cross was slightly faster than the jab which was a bit longer than 50 ms. The jab and cross measured together are exactly within the 100 ms.

Audio recording allowed quantification for some aspects.

The human eye is known to perceive approximately 24 Hz ..20 Hz (or cycles per second) is almost as fast as the limit of visual perception. Fast as thought and routine.
