The Vessel

Vertigo Warning - this is another post where people who suffer from vertigo may want to skip as it is looking down shots, I know my wife can't look at these, she walked in when I was editing one of these shots and felt terrible seeing it

Starting with a shot that hopefully, won't make anyone feel dizzy

This shot is taken while I was up a few levels of stairs on the Vessel, as you can see it is a series of staircases.

The Vessel which is also sometimes called the Hudson yards staircase is part of the redevelopment that has taken place in the Hudson Yards area of NYC, The concept for Vessel was revealed in 2016. Construction started in April 2017. The structure topped out in December 2017 and opened on March 15, 2019.

its a honeycomb-like structure ( which when I first saw it I thought it looked like a beehive, that rises 16 Stories and has 154 flights of stairs, 2500 Steps and 800 landings and was designed by British designer Thomas Heatherwick.

And a shot looking up when you enter the Vessel

If you are not into the exercise of climbing the stairs there is an elevator going up one side of the vessel, I chose to walk the stairs myself the day I visited it

And looking down from up at the top of the Vessel, or near the top, see that blue circle down at ground level, surrounded by people, people set their cell phones down to get shots like my second one in this post, looking up the center of the structure.

One thing I noticed when people were doing that a lot of the shots they get must have other people blocking the view as they lean in to sit their phone down for the shot

The day I went up the vessel was an overcast and dreary day so the view from up the vessel was not that exciting, so instead of the view let me share a last shot looking fown at the little people below

I have heard that the rush to get tickets to go up on the vessel has slowed down and you can now most days get tickets for the day you go online to book them, so on a nicer day with clear skies I will head back and go up there again

Wow these are nice. Was thinking about popping over myself. I also heard that these pictures are owned by the vessel owners automatically but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Thanks its worth a visit
There was an uproar over the rights to the photos and they changed their terms a little to make it not such a strong statement and actually stated the photo is still owned but he photographer, but the Vessel group has the right to re-share repost, publish, promote as they wish

Buena composición, buenos equipos, excelentes fotos

That man has a magical, engineering mind to create such a stunning masterpiece. That is truly very impressive and I can only imagine how it would be in person. Great share Jay.

You are so right, who would have thought a simple concept of stairs could be turned into such a cool piece of both art and functionality as a viewing platform

I know, just amazing!

It truly is and the experience going up in does not really come across in photos

Congratulations, Your Post Has Been Added To The Steemit Worldmap!

Ohh yes you do get some good exercise if you walk straight up to the top level like i did the time i visited there

Here in chicago there's a willis tower stair challenge where people walk up the entire stairwell of the building.

They do a similar thing here iup the stairs of the Empire State Building
