Yay! I Have Great News!
I am stoked! My friend gave me a heads up that my local London Drugs has started this new thing in their photo lab, and each month they display the work of a local photographer, or artist. So I headed over to talk to the manager and I am IN! All I have to do is print the 10 images I want to display. I can sell them too, and London Drugs isn't charging me a commission or an application fee or anything. I literally just pay for the prints! So sweet!
There is one downside, and that is the display area is best suited for images in a landscape format (horizontal). Since I have been shooting with book covers in mind over the last few years 99% of my images are NOT horizontal.
So I went out this evening and took a couple of my daughter.
Behind the scenes, at a parking lot beside and eyeglasses store and an insurance place
Someone honked at us. I know we look like weirdos, it's ok.
I am really really really trying to get my videos going. I managed to create another speed edit of some masking I did to fill in more flowers to the image. I want to actually do tutorials, but for some reason the screen capture program I use...whatever the one that comes with windows 10 is called...doesn't seem to record my adjustment panels in photoshop. It's so weird. I was under the impression it records, you know...the screen...but apparently not everything on the screen. Hopefully I can get it all figured out at some point. In the meantime here is the speed masking clip.
I should also mention I actually won my camera through a contest by London Drugs...so I find it interesting that a couple years later I will be displaying the work I have created with that camera there...I didn't even mention that to the manager, but I totally should!
Hope you all had a day as good as mine!

Definitely wouldn't have guessed those flowers were Photoshopped. Do you ever make tutorials?
I WANT to but I’m having issues with my computer rendering videos. I have my brother coming out to help me with all my tech issues soon so I should be able to get going!!
Sounds exciting! Good luck with that outcome. :)
This is just such a beautiful image - my favourite from the Portrait contest this week by FAR... I'd LOVE to see a tutorial showing how you created such a realistic look for the flowers your daughter is lying on - it's totally convincing: you had me fooled good and proper, even though my rational mind knew it couldn't be real!
Thank you for sharing - and please tell your daughter that she makes a wonderful model/muse. (And make the most of it in case she ever changes her mind - mine did about a year ago, and as a photographer AND as a Mama, even though I respect that decision, I have to admit that it broke my heart!)
Thank you for taking the time not only to check out my post but leaving such a thoughtful comment!! I am so excited my brother came over today to help me with some computer issues so I should be up and ready to make tutorials YAY!! And all my kids have gone through a ‘don’t take my picture’ phase I just find something else to do for awhile. But I am always thrilled when they are interested in modelling for me again 😊
Excellent - I shall look out for them! And if I'm very lucky this will be a passing phase for my teen, too, although perhaps not as it's actually about not wanting their image online as a privacy issue - I'm still welcome to TAKE photos, but not to share them...
