As the sun goes down and the street lights turns on. A portion of the street closes giving way for a market which comes alive only at night. Like a shopping mall that invaded the street and offers almost anything that you may need. If you have a good eye you might find a gem within the pile of goods being sold. Welcome to...............

Ukay -Ukay Night Market

Located at Harrison Road Baguio city Philippines this market is quite popular to tourists visiting the city. You would wonder what Ukay Ukay means and some of you might think it is a place. The word means to dig or exhume from an assortment of pre owned clothes, bags, jackets shoes and much more. These goods are brought in from other countries and sold to different places around the country. Our version of the flea market can be found all over the country and this market in Baguio is one of the most popular. The prices here are very cheap aside from that you could still haggle for the price to get it cheaper.

The market occupies the whole lane of this street which starts around 9 pm and last past midnight.

The streets are still so alive at this time and even the permanent stalls on the sidewalks are still open. Flower shops are still open and who know someone may want to purchase some flowers for a sweetheart.

All those colors lit by the lamp posts at night is an invitation for everyone. Telling you to come and find something that you might like.

Come and search thru the piles of clothes and if you look closer you might find Prada, Gucci, Armani, Ralph Lauren and Versace. Out of the rubble are gems which can be bought starting at around $1.00 and who know you might even find a Louis Vuitton bag.

Looking for a denim jacket? There are a lot of choices here for everyone.

9.JPG

There is no shortage of shoes here. A lot are perfect copies which are called class A shoes. There are also original shoes that is if you don't mind slightly used shoes.

For basketball, running or everyday use. Choose your size they have it.

Need some boots for walking?

13.JPG

The night is young and more people are pouring in looking for the perfect bargain. Some of you might not consider second hand clothing but money is hard and we always think of ways to save money at the same time still dress good. Even some local stars are seen buying from this market which boosted the trade.

A few years ago I bought jackets and coats here. Soak it with hot water and with a deep wash it should be perfect.

17.1.JPG

Need blankets and comforters on a cold night? Maybe I'll skip this one but the patterns are unique and would be very hard to find.

17.JPG

Still there are brand new items sold aswell. Like these pajamas which are locally made. How about a Hello Kitty pajama.........in pink.

18.JPG

A box full of stuffed toys and can you spot the pilot teddy bear?

19.JPG

Next we move to the wood crafted goods which are popular as home decorations and souvenirs.

20.JPG

All sorts of keychains, ref magnets perfect for giveaways. If you have an itchy back look no further in the bucket are hand crafted back scratcher.

21.JPG

Buy accessories like bracelets and necklaces made from wood, metal and beads. You could even catch a dream with a dream catcher.

22.JPG

Now this is something I missed and would have bought a wooden bowl and plate. Maybe next time when we come back. That bowl would look perfect on the kitchen table.

23.JPG

Full of color, full of life the Ukay -Ukay Night Market in Baguio City. Look around even if you are not buying anything. Who know it might get you spending when you see that Armani jacket that still looks perfect.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed the photos and the tour around the market.

Have a good evening Steemians!

Looks like a great place for treasure hunters but I wonder what happens when it rains.

Hahah i guess.... Run for cover.

Pero I have heard marami pang ibang ukay around the city.

Hehe! Sobrang dami. Yung iba online sellers na lang. Isang business na nga din yun drop and pick up shops dito e dahil sa mga yan.
