Paris, the city of romance.... in B&W
A friend of ours lives in Paris, when we went to Eurodisney a while ago we also visited her and her friend. I shot a bunch of pictures of which I thought that these came out nice in a black and white setting. At that time I had a Fuji Finepix camera, not as fancy as the DSLR from today ;) But it worked.
Of course when you're in Paris you have to see the Arc the Triomph. It is directly on the end of the world famous champs elysee.
The next picture is far from sharp but in a B&W setting I can live with it... It gives a blurry sight and with the cars moving it just looks like a piece out of a movie...
The mouling Rouge, a club with a rich history. Of course the "can can girls" with the tune everybody knows....
Basilique de sacre coeur. A church which totally (almost) lives on tourists these days. Around the church a lot of vendors of postcards and other useless stuff are pushing you to buy stuff from them.....But the building looks awesome.
The next buildings I can't really recall their names....blush...sorry... But they are old for sure :)
And of course as last...The Eiffel Tower.
The eiffel tower is painted every (average) 7 years. Since it's building in total 18 times already.
A few figures ( source)
- 25 painters – all of them specialists in work on metallic structures at great heights and on towers, and completely unaffected by vertigo;
- 60 tonnes of paint;
- the weight of eroded paint between two painting campaigns is estimated at 15 tonnes;
- 50 kilometres of safety line;
- 2 hectares of safety nets;
- 1,500 brushes;
- 1,500 overalls;
- 5,000 sanding disks;
- 1,000 "scrub planes" (scrapers);
- 1,000 pairs of leather gloves;
- budget: around 4 million Euros;
- duration: around 18 months, without ever closing the monument to the public.
Have a great day !!
Peter

Nice photos! I miss my Fuji Finepix camera. It was a really awesome unit. It had a bigger sensor than most compact cameras at the time so it took some really fantastic pictures. Even though it was only 6 MP it was still out performing my wife's 12 MP Canon point and shoot.
It was a awesome camera... I had much fun with it and a lot of photo's taken...
The focus wasn't very quick at night, but besides that it was a great camera..

Great shots of beautiful Paris. If I where you I would use a great catching photo as your first as this is the one popping up in the feed. Ok the camara is a cool one but I like the other shots better. Reminiscing on my last visit to Paris where we had a nice !BEER on a terrace in the Versailles gardens near the fountain.
