MACHINECO the documentary part 1 / You have to meet my landlords!!! They are crazy and they are genius. Come have a look.
This is MACHINECO part 1: a documentary @juliakponsford and I did about our previous landlords.
First there's John.
We rented a loft from him for several years and thus had ample time to study his way of life. Every time he visited the building it was like witnessing a hurricane passing through and he often left us flustered, angry or laughing.
As time went on we learned more and more about him; he owns a company called MACHINECO that sells and rents various industrial machines to customers all over the world. He is also the owner of many buildings in Montreal which he both rents and sells. In addition, he is suing and being sued by numerous people and represents himself in court. He now has extensive legal knowledge, and wins more often than he loses.
Then there's Robin.
John shares this chaotic lifestyle with his brother Robin Doak. We frequently encountered them frazzled, covered head to toe in dirt, running on no sleep, and announcing catastrophe. Be it a burst pipe, flooding, fires, theft, tenants not paying rent, lost machine shipments, problems with Revenu Quebec, or more then ten court cases in process, we never ceased to be fascinated with their stories.
From our perspective, the interaction occurring between them while working together is extremely interesting. Visually they look alike, and watching them argue is highly entertaining. Despite that, they appear to intuitively understand each other and have continued working together with an almost mysterious harmony for more than 25 years.
This documentary was made to share the madness of John and Robin but it's also a way to showcase my music and sound design concepts. We're happy to share this project with you,

What a treat this was, I HAVE to have more soon! You fucking amaze me with your talents my friend. I'm still smiling after watching this. I nearly died when u zoomed in on his broken glasses! What a character, I'm dying to find out more. The music behind this was gold and the style in which it was shot was clever. U and Julia are quite a team man, so many skills its unreal. My only criticism was it wasn't long enuff.. I didn't want it to end. Machineco lol Everything was perfect..this is undervalued. Best shit I've seen on Steemit so far has come from Vachemorte. I dig it man, when's the next?

Julia and I could tell story for hours .....no joke. Yes the music was really important for me so I made the music based on the rythm of their voices. In the other parts you will see what I mean when I create a melodic line based on what they say. Kind of proud of that and I want to use this technique again in the future. Mad respect for the GA!
Whooaaaa!!!! This was awesome I really didnt know what to expect but both aesthetically and conceptually this was awesome. Like most artists I have a fascination with , what appears to be mundane people , however everybody has a story and is a character. I wish mainstream movies and production would take this route as opposed to making Spiderman 507 .
P.S: For some reason they reminded me of Michael Douglas in "Falling Down"

yes I always been fascinated with the Anti Hero concept and I think that of all my projects this is the one that reflect that the most. They are fascinating I hope you will listen the whole serie, this is one of seven. Episode 2 next week. I am an independent filmmaker and I agree that people love garbage movies as long as there is a face they know and a big explosion they are happy...They are also happy eating at McDonald but it doesn't mean that it's food. Fascinating real-life characters! I love the combination of music on top of one of the brothers reciting legalese by-heart! That's ingenious of you having caught that there was a rhythm emanating from him spelling out the legal knowledge he has memorized!
I saw Carcasses by Denis Côté at Cinema du Parc not far from where we were the other night. I went to watch with my parents because my dad bought car parts at this gigantic scrap seen in the film and wanted to see it on screen. I can't help but think of these two brothers you depict as also being chaotic hoarders but, at the same time and in an eerie way, organized.
Hi my friend, yeah I was trying to make them sound like MC's with the music at time. I explore that during all the parts, this is first of seven. More about hoarding is coming.... They use to be. now they are just my friend. I stop to see them once in a while to see what's up. Laughing every time they are so funny it's hard to explain. this is why we filmed them... Episode 2 next week... One a week for 2 month.
