Rocky Mountain Vistas - Beautiful Skylines
These are a few more pictures from my hiking this weekend, featuring the panorama photos that I took. The weather was warm, but windy, and the skies were beautiful.
Started out on the trail pretty early, as the sun was just starting to break over the mountains and light the landscape. It was already warm out and since the was no snow yet, we had an easy start to head on up for the views I'm always seeking out.
Had some easy grassy slopes to start up on and head towards a rocky ridge with mostly just walls of rock.
There was a weakness in the wall though, where the rock came up within scrambling reach of the ridge. From here, the views got ever nicer.
All along this ridge, there are mountains on both sides and some steep cliffs in spots giving great views. This shot is of a river valley that I might just have to explore in the winter when iced over, as I think that band of rock will leave a nice icefall once its all frozen.
And here, the final views on approaching the summit looking back down the ridge ascent. The peak on the middle right is the summit, you can see the distance cairn that hikers have built.
And finally, the summit!!! Great panoramas from up here, as usual.
Some other great areas on the way down, but an easier slope after the upper rocks, as more gentle grassy slopes with still great views to the west.
See these other two photo sets from this location I've posted recently as well:
Hiking in November! Awesome! and great pics!
Ya, usually my november hikes around here are all white, so this is some nice late season we have to enjoy.
Great scenery for shooting western films.
