HDR Photos From My White Powdered Christmas Wonderland 📷
So, I had only posted a couple photos yesterday of our white Christmas, as the skies stayed grey, but today it was glorious outside (aside from the cold) with hoarfrost, and loads of powdered snow on the trees. I took some nice photos on my properly, many are HDRs and a few silouettes of my wife riding her horses.
Note: As always, click to view large versions.
First, a couple of silouette shots with the fresh powder and vast blue skies.
I left this one dark, as i liked the look of the sun without brightening up the other areas of the photo.
And the snow covered Christmas balls are bright in the sun today.
The powder is really pristine, we got about 30cm (1ft) of snow in the last couple days and the trees just look fantastic!
If only I didn't have the orange snow fench in view, but hey, who noticed??
The tips of these trees are nice and frosty.
The HDR shots worked great for all these facing the sun, as it really outlined the edges of the snow, but left the blue skies possible as well in the photo.
Lets get a close up of one of those pine cones.
This is my handywork actually, a 12m long wall by 1.3m high masonry rock retainer wall, I build with rocks all on our property. You can't see much of it in the snow, but the sun had melted off a few of the rocks, since they absorbe so much heat.
And there is my wife on anther horse making snow trails in the powder through the yard.
Thought I'd play with focus a bit and get the snow flakes on the tree top here still.
This is our old horse(named Whiz), he just woke up from a nap, and looks like it. haha
A big percheron cross, named Oakley
And Indy, wondering why I'm taking photos of him while he is busy eating.
Another piece of my handywork, this 4m bridge gaps a spring time stream we get, but looks great viewed through as a window.
These last are also HDRs, and I like how they turned out, showing the long fence of hoarfrost and fresh powder.
The thick frost covered wire, is the electric line.
And finally, I really like this one, the color from the sun flare in my camera really came out in HDR along with the hanging seed pods.

I hope you enjoyed these HDR photographs. If you are new, please follow and check out some of my other recent HDR photography sets:
Yup. Those are some great shots. I could almost smell the horses!
You deserve 2 votes for that comment, a good lol, thanks!!!
Excellent shots! Real winter wonderland 8)
You live in a beautiful area....the scenery, the huge sky and all that snow - it sparkles in some of the shots which I really like. I haven't done HDR photos yet....I have that option on my camera and have used it not knowing what it's all about....I just read how....I think I might give it a try one of these days when/if it stops raining!
Thanks countrygirl, yes I'm very thankful for where we live and the awesome scenery that feeds my soul so often. HDR is awesome but definitely a learning curve to capture it well. If your camera can do bracketing, that with a tripod and some decent software, you can really capture some stunning photos with a bit of time to do it all.
Thanks for the tips!
Amazing post friend, awesome photographs too!
Thanks Shieha, had a great day in the cold today, was fun to capture all of these. I have a few to add to my favorites, that is for sure.
Nice shots @unipsycho!
Upped and followed.
Also, I really like posts with many photos like this... my photo posts often have a lot, it's hard to choose!
Thanks papa-pepper, ya I definitely enjoy the photo blogs with a collection the most, I really like seeing kind of an album, so that is what I try to produce the most of as well. I find it hard to choose when I post from my hikes, as I have SO many, today was nice, as these were just my favorites from today only, so easier to hand pick from!
Yeah, I like the new ones myself too, and when you only pick from the "today" photos it helps.
That's why I split my winter one into a post featuring the creek, and one with just the woods... even the few photos from that day were too many for one post!
Gorgeous photos, very fine work @unipsycho!!
nice photo, I was so inspired by the beautiful moment, 100 create your photo
Thank you barvon, glad to capture such moments for sure.
GORGEOUS shots! Thanks! :) :) :)
Very beautiful pics!
I really like the second to last shot with the double set of fences that fade into the distance, great job @unipsycho!!!
Thanks cognoscere, I like that one two, I love teh hoarfrost along the wires of the fence.
