Which brand of camera should I buy - a Canon or a Nikon?

Canon or Nikon

Depends on what you are looking in a camera. Everybrand has its own pros and cons ….

Mostly if u use it just for family functions or vacations or use it as a sort of casual camera then both are good ..just go with ur budget

If ur more than a casual user like me then follow along. This is my opinion based on my handson experience,my research & thought i have put before buying my first dslr

1. Operation : if u are just starting then canon is easy to use especially with its ‘live view mode’ (=simulates the changes in a photo settings as u change aperture,focal length & shutter speed) .nikon also has a live view mode but is limited to a degree. BUT once you get the hang of photography you barely use this mode. Also i believe learning on a nikon will give you a strong basics in ur learning.
2. Connectivity : connecting ur smartphone or laptop to use it as a remote of ur camera ..As of my writting canon gives more range of application than a nikon.Nikon is working on its updates so this may change
3. Lens : Both have a wide range of lens to choose from but canon lens are bit cheaper than nikons. Also since there are more canon users in india compared to nikon it is easy to find more used parts and lens to canon than to a nikon
4. Dynamic range and performance : Nikon dynamic range is insanely good also out of camera picture quality nikon tends to be a bit punchier and vibrant than canons. Canons are bit true to reality. This shouldnt bother since everything can be adjusted in post production unless you want to use a direct out of camera picture i prefer nikon
   Battery : Nikon gives better battery performance than a canon but little bit costlier.

Final verdict

• Serious videography - canon is what u want

• Serious photography & casual videos - nikon is ur thing

• OVERALL for allround performance = go with Nikon

• OVERALL for all round (willing to spend more) = go with canon higher end models
