Breeding Stud Choices II

Breeding is not a case of picking the best looking cats either. Whatever criteria that may have been specified during a cat show does not reflect the best breeding choices between content winners. For instance, attending a cat show and observing the grand champion male will seem like the most desirable outcome. This in hindsight will not be the best course of action as there will be a high demand and it may even be that the cat in question has no proven breeding record. The better plan would be to investigate its lineage and gain access to the father of the cat who established these exemplary characteristics in the first place. Using a mate with a proven track record is one of the most important factors for a breeder and this extends to the overall probability for success. When breeding, seeking success with better odds are the greatest asset to a breeder.

Consideration to the queen’s well being should also be considered. She will often be an inexperienced queen to be and will benefit greatly from an experience stud during her first mating period. Selecting a proven and mature cat in breeding contributes greatly to realising a new litter with the desired characteristics and survival rate.
