More Art on 6th Ave

I did a post earlier with some art I came across walking down 6th Ave one morning, this is a follow on post with some more art.

Starting with an Egg

Well as you can see not just a plain egg but an egg sculpture on the corner by 54th Street that caught my eye and I thought it was pretty cool.

From what I understand it's been there since around 2013 and is made of quarter inch thick stainless steel. It's about 8 foot tall.
I think its the holes that are similar yet different that really makes this one catch my eye as I walked by.

And for the next piece it seems someone or two for that matter lost their heads for it

Venus de Milo Statues by Jim Dine

This piece is entitled “Looking toward the Avenue” which is it just me that seems a bit strange to say looking when they are headless.
These are two of Jim Dine’s three sculptures and are on the east of 6th ave at 53 Street.
The shortest is I believe to be 14 Feet tall so they are no small sculptures and I find them quite impressive.

And the next piece although not an art piece I think is very artistic shall I saw

Yes it is just a street lamp, but I think such a cool design to have diamond shaped lights in the Diamond district

This is around 47th Street, and then time was ticking by I had to get walking a bit quicker and get to my office.

if you have any sights in NYC you would like to see shots of please do feel free to let me know and I will see what I can do :)

yes the art in the city is pretty cool to see

Thx for sharing the art of NYC -- i loved the streetlight!

Thanks I thought the lamp was s cool as well, I am not so happy with my shot of it, so I will have to go backan ge new shots of them

I live the art deco feel of the piece -- and esp cool that it's in the diamond district!

OHh yes i do love the style of it, indeed there are four of these lamps I believe

Cool! A Princess cut :)

Ohh it is I know nothing about the cuts

"Princess cut" has a big square top -- with four distinct sides ;)

OHh OK so I know that now :)

I always go along happily with whatever you shoot in NYC. It is such an interesting city for unique pictures of life.

Love all of these and yes, the headless statues always crack me up. :)

Yes I remember the first time I saw the headless statue I though what they couldn't afford the whole statue :)

Hahaha! That is hilarious!

You know me I am crazy

That is so true. And you find yourself in such a perfect place to put that on display, you know? :)

Thank you for the you know what. 😁

Oooh another bunch of photos of sculptures (and a lamp), I love them! Thanks again for bringing me to a place without me having to be there. Now on another note...am I the only one that saw that lamp and for some reason thought of both superman, and some sci-fi movie where you know they are going to use a laster to magnify the power of that diamond or something? Ha! weird head today I suppose.

My Pleasure I have lots of family back in NZ who may never hget here so they like to to get shots of the city like these
And as Christmas approaches all the shop. Windows and trees are fun to get and share, been doing that for about 8 years now :)

And NO your not the only one who thought that I didnt think of super man but I did have a similar thought about an evil genius and a laser with this lamps LOL

Awesome! great minds think a like. It's funny my husband was just mentioning possibly making a trip up to NYC as we really haven't been for like...I dunno 7-8 years I want to say. Would be nice to walk around the city a bit more, especially with the young one.

You should go for it it is such an amazing city :)

And if you need any tips of what to see feel free to ask

You gotta share your secret someday that how finds these amazing sights and then take wonderful shoots

No real secret with dieting trying to walk over 10,000 steps a day exploring different areas of the city is a good way to do it
And always looking around for interesting things to shoot
Thanks for the support

You are always welcome, really no need for thanks :)

those art sculptures are worth a lot of money... beautiful photos.. and some of your comments made me laugh. A photographer with a sense of humor is good to know. :)

Yeah I bet they are worth a lot now thing in NY is cheap 😁

A sense of humor is something I surely do have 😎

Nice pieces of art! I think the egg would look good in my garden. The statutes would make a great conversation piece in the front garden and the street light would look good lighting my patio! Transport would cost me an arm and a leg, not to mention import duties. lol

LOL I am sure the would look good at your place, bu over and above the import duties I am sure the cost of these art pieces would cost many of an arm and a leg, nothing is cheap here in NYC

You are probably right...lol

Ohh yes I have seen the prices of other art pieces absolutely crazy
Hundreds of thousands for some
