Definitely not going to replace it soon. The phone cameras are all software enhanced and when paying attention, the results are vastly different. For the average user posting to Instagram it might be okay, but for most other purposes it is going to be a while. Then factor in conditions like low light, motion and distance - and the phone can't cut it. I have been pretty happy with the camera in the Huawei p30 pro, but it is no where near what I can do with my olympus.

I basically agree, but smartphone photography has gone a long way, what used to be "good enough" is entering the professional / "very good" territory in many cases thanks to the enhanced software post-processing.
