The almighty shred god Paul Gilbert - He's got guitar picks taped to an electric drill while playing "Flight of the Bumblebee"

Billy Sheehan! Easily one of the greatest bass guitarists of all time. He has played with iconic acts including Mr. Big, David Lee Roth (original Van Halen front-man), The Winery Dogs, G3 and many others

Most people think Van Halen only had 2 singers (David Lee Roth & Sammy Hagar) but many people forget that Extreme frontman Gary Cherone also sung on on the album "Van Halen III" and toured with them for awhile too!

Last but not least here is Nuno Bettencourt! One of the most skilled guitarist's I've ever seen in action this guy can play a million notes per second and has mastered so different styles from Neo-classical to regular classical, funk, blues and country! he even did a drum battle with the bands drummer and I gotta say he was probably the better percussionist!

If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Big or Extreme both bands both have 1 major hit song which I guarantee you've all heard plenty of times. Funnily enough neither of the songs really reflect what the bands are about... I guess they both did one radio friendly song to help build their fan base. Here's the YouTube link so you know which songs I'm talking about!

Among rock bassists, Billy Sheehan has been a standout in four decades. Whether with Talas in the ’70s, tapping toe-to-toe with Steve Vai in the ’80s incarnation of David Lee Roth’s band, or forming the chart-topping Mr. Big in the ’90s, his name has always been right there with the elite.

Yeah! 100% agree. And nowadays (apart from Mr. Big) he is in two of the best supergroups of them moment, Winery Dogs and Sons Of Apollo.

citing vocabulary in steemit. he is a whale with his skills. with he's big sp. will make the supergroup every band he joined 😎

100% He is still razor tight! A lot of the the time bass players don't get as much recognition but he's so good it's hard to not notice him!

No doubt about that sir. He's a legend

Thanks again for the support!! Hugely appreciated.

In some way both bands had parallel lives. "To Be With You" and "More Than Words" were released within a few months of diference and they were huge hits of the bands. But also created on them a stigma of ballad bands that was far away from reallity. They both had (actually still have) awesome singers and guitarists. Maybe the bigger difference was that Mr. Big was a supergroup with 4 incredible musicians who have had relatively success with their respective bands before creating Mr. Big, while Extreme members were newcomers. After the huge success of both hits, they released really good albums and nowadays they still are great bands live. A pity the lost of Pat Torpey after the Parkinson's disease problems.

For sure! When I used to hear "To Be With You" and "More Than Words" on the radio I assumed it was the same band. Both songs sound pretty similar. Yeah big shame about Pat Torpey... I'm surprised they didn't give him a mention at the show.

By the way... GREAT PHOTOS!

Thanks so much brother! Steemit is great. Gives me some hope of being able to do this full time.
