Giant City: Boulder and Cliff

This is from one of my hiking trips at Giant City State Park in Southern Illinois.

Boulder

I found this boulder standing proud, covered in vegetation. These sandstone formations are created by erosion and lots of time.

Cliff

This cave didn't go far back, just enough to house a good mud puddle. I really liked how the leaves sat on the water at the base of the cliff.

This picture is looking up for the source of that water coming down. Obviously the water is leaking out of the sun! The hiking paths lead up there where you can see many small trickles converge to pool on a rock shelf before coming over this ledge.
