1936 Buick land speed car at Bonneville
This old Buick caught my eye in the impound area at 2018 Bonneville Speed Week.
It is a 1936 Buick with some custom aerodynamic body work added to the front. I did some research and found this one is driven by Brian Blake of Blake Machine. This crazy custom car set a new record of 181.534 MPH and broke the old record of 177.083 MPH.
When you find a car or motorcycle in the impound area, then it has qualified to break a record. To set a record the car/motorcycle must complete 2 passes and the average speed becomes the new record. After the first qualifying run, the vehicle goes directly to impound. If they go back to their pits or don't go directly to the impound area, then they are disqualified. After initial inspection by officials, the team is limited to 4 hours to clean, refuel, or fix the car. If the team is caught working on the car/motorcycle after the 4 hour period, then they are disqualified.

Really unique. But I think it's a submariner. Extraordinary modification. I like it.
