DOWN UNDER IN LEERSUM, THE NETHERLANDS
I took a different route than I usually do. And on my way back, in the backyard of neighbors at some 200 meters distance from my house, I came accross this little fellow.
A wallaby!
A wallaby is a small- or mid-sized macropod native to Australia and New Guinea, with introduced populations in New Zealand, UK and other countries. They belong to the same taxonomic family as kangaroos and sometimes the same genus, but kangaroos are specifically categorised into the six largest species of the family. The term wallaby is an informal designation generally used for any macropod that is smaller than a kangaroo or wallaroo that has not been designated otherwise.

I wasn't expecting this and the animal stood stock-still so at first sight I thought it was a statue.
But after I approached the fence a bit, it started skipping.
A bit later I saw 2 more, but they were too far away (and moving all the time) to take a good picture.
'Down Under': closer than I thought ...
Thanks for visiting and ...
GREAT WEEKEND TO ALL OF YOU!
I would think of it as a large rabbit and eat it LOL @smasssh
Never ate it, but heard from a co-worker who's coming form Australia originally, that is does taste quite well.
I heard before about wallabies in rugby matches but now i comprehend how wallabies are it's the small and fat version of kangaroos, so your neighborhood it's full of nature that's great. Regards
All of a sudden a cool species just living so close by you, how cool is that!
A piece of good ol aussieland just around the corner. Dont let him end up on your plate hehehe
I won't, don't worry.
Still it's nice to know that in case of a complete collapse of the economy there's some fresh meat nearby ...
Nice for when the grandkids come visit you ...
If it was in Africa, someone would have looked for how to get it into his pot. Hahahahaha!!
Hahaha. And then afterwards invite the neighbor to come and have dinner together, hahaha.
yes, absolutely. Though some can be very greedy, they will eat it alone. Hahahaha
cute animal
Interesante animalito, parece que como si te observara con curiosidad. Gracias por compartir, Saludos desde México.
