Weekend Village Visit

in #photography8 years ago

I love the big city life, high up in apartments and lots of great restaurants and food but there are times when I really need a break from it all and to get in touch with a more tranquil lifestyle. I headed out to my local village to get away from the streets and to bask in what nature had offered me. There is no better way to relax than to admire the landscape that we are free to explore. The air is considerably less polluted here and much more greenery is left intact. I spent some time to simply read a book around the lake, absorbing some Zen of the surrounding environment.

Life in the village is very different here, people are not worried about running to the bank or lining up for the latest film premieres. No, they are leading a much simpler and perhaps stress free life by focusing on their daily rituals and making a living. There is a sense of freedom in this place as people go at their own pace. The morning rush is non-existent here. Instead, people get up early to make the most of their day and even exercise when feel appropriate. This is totally different to the lifestyle I had adjusted to back in the city and it reminded me that sometimes priorities need to be shifted onto things that will benefit our minds and bodies.

Agriculture is a point of interest here and villagers will tend to their crops on a daily basis. There is cycle that almost seems systematic for the local farmers to ensure their crops yield great volumes of produce. No chemical pesticides are used here and everything is sourced organically for trade locally and outside of the village. What I love here is there is less emphasis on chasing this notion of wealth and value but more focus on cultivating a brighter future for all. People are very kind hearted here and it is a pleasant sight to see after seeing angry commuters in the morning back home.

Of course while in the village, there was much to explore and learn about. I was able to quiz some of the locals about the history of the village. One thing that I could not miss out on before leaving this place was to sample some organic and traditional food. There is something about seeing how all the ingredients are sourced nearby that really adds to the whole authenticity of a home cooked meal. This meal was simple yet packed some of the greatest flavours I had ever feasted on.
