Pilot Mountain, North Carolina
Last week I finally stopped and got a worthy shot of this majestic mountain. Pilot Mountain is located along UShwy 53 between Winston-Salem and Mt. Airey North Carolina.
It almost looks like the mountain may have been a volcano at some point where the core filled up and solidified while the surrounding mound of earth erroded away. I guess it does look like the cockpit of a jet fighter but to me it also looks like a horses saddle. All speculation on my part however.
Someday I will climb this mountain, visit it's gift shop and report factual information instead of hair brained theories.
