Milford Sound, New Zealand, One of the Most Beautiful Places on Earth - Photographic Short Story
Milford Sound is one of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion and is located in Fiordland, New Zealand.
Milford Sound is a fjord where the mountains literal come straight out of the sea.
The mountain on the left is Mitre Peak and is 1692m high and to the right is The Lion and Mt Pembroke which features a permanent glacier on it.

Looking in the other direction. I'm not sure of the name of this mountain.
A cabbage tree (Cordyline australis) also known as ti kouka in maori. This is a common monocot tree in New Zealand.
The weather is very changeable at Milford Sound, with an average of 7 metres of rain a year it is one of the wettest places on earth.
Milford Sound has inspired me to paint it on many occasions as seen in the oil painting below

You should definitely visit New Zealand, it's a beautiful country. I don't know if you have ever seen the movie Willow, but much of it was filmed in New Zealand and there is a scene that was filmed at Milford Sound.
Wow, thats i a long time ago since i've seen that movie. Great reminder! Loved that movie but totally forgot about it lol.
I live near many of the locations where Willow was filmed!
We did an overnight trip on the sound a few years ago. Loved it. Great photos. Did you do the painting at the bottom? Its fantastic

Thanks @shellyduncan. Yeah the painting at the bottom is by me, I'm a landscape artist and those Milford photos I have uploaded have served as reference photos for my paintings. I love Milford Sound so I try and get down there when I can.

Thanks @twirble, actually Milford Sound runs on tourism, it has a population of 300 people that all work in the tourism trade. Milford Sound is isolated, there is no mobile phone reception and the only way to get internet is via satellite. It is a pretty cold place and it rains for most of the year! ...but it is one hell of a dramatic beautiful place!

You're so lucky! The "sound" I live near is Puget Sound in the Seattle, Wa, US. The only two "sounds" I know of if the world are mine and yours :D We have our own beauty here as well being surrounded by mountains and water. There's something about the combo that's so appealing :)
