Off The Beaten Path, Off the Grid in Hoi An

Hi guys, I just want to dedicate this post to some of the most beautiful photos I've taken on my trip to Hoi An in Vietnam, on a rented motorcycle. I highly recommend anybody who is a backpacker to learn how to ride a motorbike because daily rentals and fuel are ultra cheap.

You'll most likely never come across scenes like this when on a paid guided tour. Basically, my friend and I biked around and spotted a farm in the distance, so we decided to go inside and check it out. No regrets.

This is my favourite photo among them all, and I almost didn't snap a photo until my friend reminded me to. We were biking at the scenic Hai Van Pass, and this was all the way in Lien Chieu. Friggin' looks like New Zealand, looks WAYYYY BETTER IN REAL LIFE and I'd come back here anytime just to see this place again.

Hello fellow biker, don't worry we're not snatch thieves.... and oh! It's really very safe here in Hoi An. Come to think of it, Hoi An is like the Melaka + Kedah equivalent for Vietnam.

The mandatory sunset photo when basking in nature's tranquility. I personally prefer purplish hues over golden ones.

This one is interesting! Have you seen a coconut-shaped fisherman's boat? Neither have I, but here they are... everywhere on the public beach. More surprisingly, they SPIN the paddle in circular motion to propel the boat forward. I basically stood there and watch the fishermen doing their thing for the whole hour because I've never seen anything like this in Laos/Thailand/Langkawi.

No filter, I promise. Got this dreamy faded effect thanks to villagers who were openly burning a pile of stuff. Let's just hope it isn't plastic they're burning.

The best perk of biking on a backpacking trip is that you get to stop at the side of the road anytime, if something catches your attention. Just like this woman who's selling really cheap and huge shellfishes....

.... and this random bamboo forest we stumbled upon in the middle of nowhere while we're just touring the area on our bike. And guys, if you ever have the opportunity to sit in the middle of a bamboo forest, please take note of the zen sounds of the slowly-creaking bamboo trees. It's more soothing and comforting than scary.

This lil' pupper belongs to the guy who rents out jet-skis. He never stopped prancing about in the waters waiting for the jet-skis to return to the shore.
