The Petronas towers

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Hi Steem friends. the
2 years ago I was in Malaysia and found a spot where I could look at this amazing building.

The Petronas Towers designed by Cesar Pelli stand as the highlight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They are a reflection and homage to the Islamic culture of Malaysia.

Pelli used the Rub el Hizb, an important symbol found in many Islamic cultures, as a way to generate the plan of the building. The Rub el Hizb is characterized by two overlapping squares, one rotated 45 degrees, with a circle inscribed in the center. Pelli used the symbol as the footprints to both towers resulting in two extruded 8 point towers that reflected Islamic art.

Hi thanks for your upvote.. are you from Scandinavia?

No, but half of my ancestry is. I have always felt close to my Viking heritage.

Cool we got something in common my father is half Danish..

Excellent. I have to go back another generation before we get to half Danish... My mother's father (morfar if you've learned any of the language) was half Danish, half Norwegian. My mother's mother (mormor) was fully (or nearly) Swedish, her parents emigrated from Blekinge, in the far south. I have recently discovered that a sole Finn (so far) infiltrated our lineage in that area - in the early 1700s. So, yeah, I say Scandinavian rather than a particular country much of the time, because the answer to "which country?" is "yes." (I haven't found any Icelandics yet.)
