IMG_1344.jpgWe also had a communal BBQ at the weekend so all the plot holders can get to know each other.

The peas are coming on well, time to make some support for them.

using some old wire mesh.

Someone dumped a load of compost from what looks like a cannabis grow, down the side of our allotment so i thought i'd make use of it. Good soil and it probably has loads of nutrients still in.

First thing i can use this for is filling the carrot bed.
Carrots do best in a raised bed or bath, it helps against carrot fly as the flies stay close to the ground.
As carrots don't like obstruction in the soil (it causes them to fork if they hit a stone) ive sifted the clay pearls out first.

Next i can use the soil to mound up the potato's now they are sprouting.

I like to dig a hole quite a bit deeper than needed then add new compost to the hole, this gives the seedlings some extra nutrient.
